Program Elements

Design a new library for the Public Library of Cincinnati which is intended for young adult/teen users. The project is to be located on a portion of the municipal parking lot to the south of Clifton Plaza at 333 Ludlow Avenue, extending to the south to Howell Avenue in Clifton, Ohio (Hamilton County). The YA/Teen library has a program specifically tailored to that age group and their interests.
The driving force behind my design was the intention of creating an all-weather community space as a continuation of Clifton Plaza that acts as both a gathering place during the winter and a throughway from Howell Ave. to Ludlow Ave. The library itself is situated around this central corridor which is conditioned with the library year round and is accessible to the public 24/7, including ADA access. The library was designed to accommodate not just young adults, but everyone in the community ages 3 to 93.
